Our brand ambassador, Ola Modupe-Ojo A.K.A. Jazz Purple, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to Manchester when he was 4. He built an impressive career even before studying Architecture at university. One of his first moves in music was to start his own label, Rugged Ram, in 1994 and he produced an impressive 7 albums on his own before transferring to new management.
Ola has always been a creative personality. His first musical opportunity came when Calvin Harris’ management (Three Six Zero) discovered him through remixes he had uploaded to Myspace. But his list of achievements doesn’t stop there! Zane Lowe played his first major project with Bipolarsunshine, ‘Aesthetics’, numerous times on Radio 1. He is now described as an acclaimed ‘multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and producer with unlimited potential… and Mancunian swagger to boot’ by the media platform, Goldflakepaint.co.uk
His name may be familiar from other sources… After working his way to the heart of the Manchester music scene with considerable style and speed, Jazz Purple was given a Nando’s Black Card which are famously reserved for VIPs to allows the cardholder plus four friends to eat for free at any of the chain’s restaurants. Jazz Purple, and his labelmate, Bipolar Sunshine, made the headlines by using their cards to allow the homeless within inner city Manchester to eat for free!
Jazz now lives in Oxford, and regularly plays in venues including the Oxford Academy, Cowley [supporting artists such as Bastille and London Grammar] – when the lockdown is lifted he’ll be making music in the city again! To celebrate his collaboration with OFFENSIVE Fashion he launched a new track on the day of the announcement – listed on SOUNDCLOUD here.
Jazz Purple is an OFFENSIVE Fashion man because he is all about feel-good vibes and is #OnTheOFFENSIVE – as a talent who’s worked hard to get there. At OFFENSIVE Fashion we respect hard work, and people who take ownership of their goals – men who #GetOnIt!
